This watercolor is of an old dilapidated
barn off of I-40 going east to Nashville. It sat back away from the expressway
off a small dirt road just out of sight, and I was so taken by its character
that I had to paint it . I painted several versions of it as a matter of
fact. All old barns tend to have their own personality, just as people do-as
they become older, they look more interesting-probably because they've been
thru so much. This old barn gave many animals shelter for many years. This
is a part of Americana that is rapidly and sadly disappearing from our nation's
landscape. The lush colors and the dark blue sky echo that there was a thunderstorm
just a few minutes ago.
